SATURDAY
AT THE PIZZA CHALET TOURNAMENT
Championship Semifinals
La Salle 4, San Dimas 2: The Lancers didn’t seem fazed with USC commit Jude Favela on the mound for the Saints as they scored a run in the first, two more in the second, and one more in the fourth to pull out a narrow win. UCLA signee David Mysza connected on his second home run of the week, a solo home run over the right field fence in the fourth inning. Adrian Hernandez, who threw three perfect innings in La Salle’s win over Arcadia, picked up where he left off as he surrendered only one run on four hits and struck out three to pick up the win. His fastball was tracked between 84-86 MPH and topped 88 MPH on our speed tracking equipment. Favela went six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and fanned four hitters. His fastball ranged from 38-86 and topped at 89.
Camden Farina, Bonita (Escarcega)
Bonita 4, South Hills 0: Camden Farina, a UC Santa Barbara commit, demonstrated why he is one of the top junior pitchers in the area as he carried a no-hitter to the sixth inning when Christian Gomez scratched out an infield single that broke the no-hitter attempt. Farina finished the game striking out six hitters, walked two hitters in 6 1/3 innings of work, and accumulated 105 pitches thrown. Diego Villa was the offensive star of the day as he connected on run-scoring doubles to right in the first and third innings. Carson Baker, a sophomore, struck out four in six innings of work and was the unlucky loser.
