BASEBALL
Damien 8, Trabuco Hills 3: The Spartans got their bats going in a big win over the Mustangs. J.D Dunn and Dom Gomez each contributed two hits and Christian Grino banged out a double. Seth Sumner allowed three runs on three hits and struck out eight in five innings of work to earn the decision.
Tustin 4, St. Paul 3: The Tillers scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to defeat the Swordsmen. Jarrett Nielsen hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning and Gabe Perez brought in two runs.
Los Altos 8, Cathedral 4: The Conquerors scored four runs in the first inning and two more in the fifth to defeat the Phantoms in a non league game. Eli Lopez went 2 for 4 with a triple and drove in a run. Jake Ruelas and Andy Jimenez also banged out two hits. Isaac Pinedo pitched four solid innings, allowing one run on five hits and struck out three to pick up the win.
Diamond Bar 5, Alta Loma 2: The Brahmas broke up a 2-2 tie by scoring three runs in the fifth inning to pull out a home win over the Braves. CJ Alinas had the big hit in the fifth as his triple scored three runs. Sean Gonzalez allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out three in six innings of work to pick the win.
La Habra 6, Irvine 2: The Highlanders improved their record to 3-2 on the season on the strength of a four-run sixth inning that broke up a 2-2 tie. Peyton Lee went 2 for 3 offensively for La Habra
Pomona 5, California 2: The Red Devils broke open a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth inning when Adrian Salazar connected on a triple that scored three runs that proved to be the difference. Adrian Hernandez and Andrew Vasquez went 2 for 3 on the day for the Condors.
Santa Fe 5, Downey 3: Nathaniel Zelidon turned in a nice effort for the Chiefs as he yielded only one earned run on two hits and struck out nine in the Chiefs thrilling win over the Vikings.
Whittier Christan 5, Placentia/Valencia 4: Connor Green had a big day for the Heralds as he went 4 for 4 and connected on a homerun in a non league win.
South El Monte 8, Workman 2: It was the Ruben Reyes show for South El Monte as he connected on a double, a triple and drove in three runs in the Eagles win over the Lobos. Christian Ortega struck out five hitters to earn the decision.
La Canada 8, Mountain View 7: The Spartans were able to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th on a 2-out RBI single by Timmy Park. La Canada won the game in the bottom of the 7th on a 2-out RBI walk-off single by Brandon Cho.

Bonita 4, San Dimas 0: The pitching star of the day was Bonita’s Brooklyn Shroyer as she tossed a no-hitter in the Bearcats win over their area rival Saints. Shroyer, a junior, struck out 16 hitters and improved her record to 3-1.
South Hills 5, Glendora 3: In one of the big area games of the day, the Huskies scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning off of Glendora starter Ashley Hibbard which turned out to be the difference in a home win. South Hills’ Joie Economides connected on a two-run home run in the first inning. Audrey Gallegos allowed three runs on hits and struck out nine in a complete-game performance to earn the win.
Arcadia 10, Alhambra 0, 6 innings: Tiara Westbrook and Sophia Herrera combined for a no-hitter in the Apaches home win over the Moors. Westbrook and Virginia Garcia Torres each had three hits and Oregon State signee Morgan Howey went 2 for 3.
Whittier Christian 8, Yorba Linda 2: Brooklyn Carreon shined in the circle for the Heralds as she allowed two runs on four hits and struck eight in a complete-game victory. Carreon, a University of Utah signee, also banged out two doubles.
Temple City 10, Covina 5: The Rams jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back in defeating the visiting Colts. Mikala Sanchez went 3 for 4 and Mia Guerrero had two hits and three RBIs. Guerrero also allowed three earned runs on eight hits and struck out four in six innings of work to earn the win.
Rosemead 13, San Gabriel 3: Zoey Larson had a big day for the Panthers as she went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run and drove in three runs in a non league home win over the Matadors. Alicia Ochoa struck out five in the circle and was credited with the win.
Sonora 15, Valencia/Placentia 2: The Raiders scored a mind-numbing 14 runs in the second inning and cruised to an easy non league win. Audreyanna Mauries and Julia Kearney each had three RBIs.

Ganesha 3, San Dimas 1: History was made yesterday at San Dimas played its first-even boys volleyball game. After winning the first set 25-9, the Giants swept the three other sets to prevail over the visiting Saints.
