2024-25 Flintridge Prep Girls Basketball Schedule
Coach Kiyomura-Chan’s Comments: “We are rostering 13 players this year, with only three seniors, and it is by far the deepest team we've had since our arrival at Prep in the 2012-2013 season. If we can remain healthy then we should be playoff ready. One of our biggest challenges will be playing enough competitive games to prepare us for the playoffs and finding enough minutes for our deep bench.”
Crystal Ball: It’s been quite a run for the Kiyomura as they have been the dominant basketball program for the past decade. We know that the Wiard’s have La Salle rolling, but when you look the whole totality the 2010’s and 2020’s, FP has been the team that has been rolling with the names such as Chen, Chea and many others. The new star on the scene is the relentlessly passionate junior Maddie Smith. Her game has evolved since the departure of Chea several years ago, and her leadership will be the difference maker in 2024-25. Huie, Fu, and Quoch will be part of a starting five that will be key contributors this year. Mark down Dec. 3rd on your calendar as Keppel travels to Flintridge Prep for a huge nonleague game. We know that Providence will be the team to challenge FP for the Prep League title, but make the opening line on the Wolves winning the Prep League at 3-5.

Coach Madsen’s Comments: “Not many of our players averaged any eye-popping stats last year outside of Kayla Boozer. She will be the focal point and main contributor as to how our season goes; however, with the team's game planning against her and needing to bring double teams, our capable supporting cast can capitalize on that strategy. Depending on CIF formatting for us in the postseason, it can go either way. We have been in higher divisions than we could typically win in past seasons, so hopefully, the new format will allow us to compete for the ultimate goal. I believe we will be outright Rio Hondo league champions again and will look for new players to step up and take on more scoring and more prominent roles. I believe we will see Kayla facilitating more and really dominating the game in all aspects, as now she will accept an even more significant role than in previous seasons.
Crystal Ball: Looking for the team that ended Flintridge Prep’s season - this is the one. It was a massive win for the Wolves, followed by an emotional loss to Keppel in the quarterfinals. For the past four years, the Tigers have had the luxury of having one of the premier shooting guards in the area in Dylan Tse. Now that she is gone from due to graduation, the focus from the opposition will center on senior Kayla Boozer (23.2 PPG). Her improvement from her sophomore to junior season was nothing short of breathtaking. She took her game to a higher level. The question will be if Leach and Park can fill the big shoes that Tse leaves. There is little dispute that the Tigers will be the favorites to win the Rio Hondo League. As for the CIFSS playoffs? Stay tuned.
