Schurr wins CIF-SS D6 Boys Wrestling Dual-Meet title; Northview girls win back-to-back CIF-SS D1 Girls Wrestling Dual-Meet championships
On Wednesday night, the Schurr Spartans won their first ever CIF Southern Section title in wrestling with a 48-21 win over host Bell Gardens in a Div. 6 Dual Meet Championship match. Also, the Northview girls wrestling team repeated as CIF-SS Div. 1 Dual Meet champions with a 37-34 win over Corona. We’ll have a column about the events over the weekend.

BOYS BASKETBALL
MISSION LEAGUE POST-SEASON TOURNAMENT
Semifinals
Harvard-Westlake 56, St. Francis 47: The Golden Knights had hoops fans on the edge of their seats, taking a 34-33 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Wolverines proved too much to handle and pulled away late to capture a Mission League tournament semifinal win. St. Francis was led by Jackson Mosley with 20 points and George Tupy added 12 points.

Damien 79, Rancho Cucamonga 65: The Spartans prepped for their showdown with Etiwanda on Friday with a home double-digit win. It was another big night for Nate Garcia as he scored 31 points, Elijah Brown added 15 points and Xavier Clinton contributed 12 points.

Diamond Bar 68, South Hills 40: Once again playing without the services of Malcolm Bell, the Brahmas easily turned back the visiting Huskies to stay tied with Walnut atop the Hacienda League standings. Alex Kim led the way with 18 points and Ethan Alfonso added 12 points with 5 rebounds.
Walnut 77, Los Altos 59: After getting off to a bit of a slow start, the Mustangs got their offense going and easily turned back the host Conquerors to remain in a first-place tie. Joby Barnes paced the offensive attack with 24 points and Malik Khouzam chipped in 18 points. Gavin Ibrahim also had a big night as he scored 16 points.
Wilson 80, Rowland 68: It was a big night for senior Justin Kayode as he scored a career-high 28 points (which included hitting 6 of 9 3-point baskets) and Nick Valencia added 15 points to lead the visiting Wildcats past the Raiders.

Orangewood Academy 72, San Gabriel Academy 63: Ethan McCloskey had the hot hand for the Eagles has scored a team-high 20 points but it was not good enough as San Gabriel Academy came up short against Orangewood Academy at Marshall HS.
SANTA FE LEAGUE
Bosco Tech 81, Verbum Dei 50: In the final game of the regular season, Dominic Gallardo played a starring role as he scored 21 points with Jaden Erami adding 17 points and Ryan Osborne pitching in 16 points as the Tigers won a share of the Santa Fe League title with a road win.

DEL RIO LEAGUE
La Serna 37, El Rancho 33: The Lancers prepped for their Friday showdown with Whittier with a narrow road win. El Rancho was led by Destiny Cruz, who scored a team-high 11 points.
HACIENDA LEAGUE
Los Altos 66, Walnut 49: The Conquerors had one of their better efforts of the season as they easily defeated the visiting Mustangs to maintain a first-place with Diamond Bar atop the league standings. Jimena Solorio paced the Los Altos attack with 10 points with Aneya Neilly and Hailey Lakey each scoring 15 points.
Rowland 49, Wilson 48: On their senior night, senior Ella Cho had one of her best efforts of the year as she scored 18 points with fellow senior Kathleen Do adding 12 points as the Raiders narrowly turned back the Wildcats.

Gabrielino 69. South El Monte 13: The Eagles had three players score in double figures in their win over visiting South El Monte. Paris Ngeam topped the stat sheet with 16 points and Mia Lim, along with Madison Chiu, scored 15 points apiece.

Flintridge Prep 53, Providence 36: The Wolves jumped out to an 18-2 lead and had no trouble defeating the Friars to claim the outright Prep League title. Ashley Chea, a Princeton signee, scored 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
