Recap: In the front end of a Gateway doubleheader, Columbia University signee Eric Jeon sparkled on the mound as he held the Buccaneers hitless in five innings on the mound and fanned five hitters to pick up the win. Bellflower’s only hit came off of Cameron Trevino by Ernesto Garcia with a line drive single to right field in the sixth inning. Sophomore Maverek Russell, a UCLA verbal commit who is ranked seventh in the state for the class of 2025 by PrepBaseballReport.com, had a nice day as he went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in three runs. Aiden Haller banged out three hits and drove in a run.

Recap: The Matadores swept a doubleheader from the Buccaneers on the strength of another stellar performance from Donald Murray, who threw a complete-game three-hitters and struck out nine. La Mirada scored their only run when Ben Kim scored on a wild pitch thrown in the third inning. La Mirada is on a three-game winning streak.

Marcus Galvin hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Ethan Nunez went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Sophomore Aiden Erlandsen also had two hits and drove in two runs.

Julissa Detrinidad, Daina Munoz, and Hannah Moreno each banged out two hits with Munoz driving in two runs. Both teams will play again on Friday at Bishop Amat.

Bonita will take on host Glendora on Friday at 3:15.
