La Mirada 4, Huntington Beach 1: Boston College commit Kevin Jeon stole all the headlines in this game as he hit two home runs to help propel the Matadores to the semifinals. His first home run was a two-run homer over the left-field fence that gave La Mirada a 2-0 lead. The homer came off Huntington Beach left-hander starting pitcher Jared Grindlinger on a fastball that hit 88 MPH on the SGV/Whittier Prep Sports Zone radar tracking equipment. Jeon’s second homer was a solo homer in the fifth inning off of Oilers relief pitcher Duncan McLeod that also cleared the left field fence. La Mirada’s Luke Armijo threw what many consider to be his best performance of the season. He allowed a home run to Oregon State commit Ethan Porter in the fifth inning, gave up four hits, and struck out four. His fastball ranged from 86-88 mph and topped out at 89. The Matadores will play the winner of the Carlsbad vs. Mater Dei game on Thursday night. This story will be updated on the website on Wednesday night’s winner.
Ayala 5, Cypress 1: Easton Sarmiento looked sharp for the Bulldogs as he surrendered one run on two hits and struck out six in five innings of work. His FB reached a TOP of 84. Ayala’s Jaden Valenzuela and Aiden Erlandsen each hit home runs to propel Ayala’s offensive attack. The win was in the consolation round.

Cathedral Catholic 8, Maranatha 1: Trevor Rivas drove in Lukus Perez with the Minuteman’s only run of the game. Maranatha is 2-6-1 in the season.
HACIENDA LEAGUE
San Dimas 9, Los Altos 1: Dean Brosterhouse struck out nine and gave up two hits to earn the win for the Saints.
MISSION VALLEY LEAGUE
Marshall 10, Mountain View 0: Michael Gerst struck out nine in four innings of work to pick up the win. Caleb Thatcher and Trevor Lain each drove in two runs.
South El Monte 13, El Monte 0: Emiliano Gonzalez had a big offensive performance with two hits, including a home run, and amassed four RBIs. Christian Ortega tossed a six-inning no-hitter and struck out 14.
NONLEAGUE
Chino Hills 10, Santa Fe 2: The Huskies scored two runs in the second inning and five more in the fourth to dispatch the Chiefs easily. Brody Buoncristiani went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Ayden Maxson turned in a solid performance on the mound for Chino Hills as he allowed two runs on three hits and struck out six.
Montebello 6, West Covina 1: Nathan Govea gave up one run on four hits and struck out three in four innings of work and earned the decision for the visiting Oilers. Manny Arana went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
