La Mirada 12, Downey 1: Unlike their first game on Monday, there would be no drama in game two of the 3-game series as the Matadors scored four runs in the fourth inning and five more in the seventh to secure the win easily. Kevin Jeon, named CalHiSports.com’s State Player of the Week, continued his hot streak at the plate with a solo home run in the third inning over the right/center field fence and a two-run single in the fourth. Jesse Colon, hitting in the nine spot in coach Jimmy Zurn’s lineup card, had a big day with an RBI single in the second and a single in the fourth that drove in two runs. Luke Armijo didn’t have his best stuff of the year, but he held the Vikings scoreless in the three innings he pitched as the starter and picked up the win. Freshman Julian Pardinas was solid in his two innings on the mound, striking out two and reaching a fastball TOP of 87. La Mirada is back in action on Thursday at Warren.
