DEL REY LEAGUE
Bishop Amat 3 La Salle 1: Lancers starter Justin Peinado was again asked to deliver a top performance in an important game. The senior came through as he allowed one run on six hits with a pair of strikeouts to help propel Bishop Amat to a road win at Arcadia County Park and clinch another Del Rey League title. There were several instances where the defense helped Peinado earn the win. La Salle loaded the bases in the bottom of the second, but Andrew Klein flied out to Roman Miranda in right field to end the inning. La Salle had two runners on in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Peter Callihan popped out to first baseman Aiden Medina, who made a nifty play in foul territory. But the play of the game occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Amat leading 3-1, and the bases loaded, Andrew Klein flied out to left fielder Omar Arreiche. Frane Flores tagged from third and tried to score, but Arreiche threw a strike to catcher Diego Briones, who tagged out Flores to end the inning. Bishop Amat scored two runs in the second inning with Santiago Ramirez’s single to center, scoring Roman Spencer for a 1-0 lead. Medina scored on a wild pitch by Flores for a 2-0 lead. Ramirez tripled in the fifth inning and scored when Spencer induced a walk with the bases loaded. Flores pitched 4.2 innings, with two walks and three strikeouts. The series' third game takes place on Saturday at Arcadia County Park.
