La Mirada defeats Mater Dei to advance to the Boras Classic Final; St. Paul's Gianelle Napoles throws a no-hitter in St. Paul's softball win over St. Anthony.
BASEBALL
At The Boras Classic
La Mirada 10, Mater Dei 2: The Matadores advanced to the tournament finals on the strength of a complete-game effort from Kaden Corns, who allowed two runs on six hits and struck out nine. Maverek Russell, a UCLA commit, hit a home run, and Jason Rodriguez went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. La Mirada will take on Corona in the tournament final on Friday at 6 p.m. at JSerra HS.
Aquinas 8, Ayala 3: Codey Brown drove in the only run of the game for Ayala as they dropped their second game at Boras.
Maranatha 3, Paloma Valley 0: Matthew Vasquez tossed a complete-game three-hitter and struck out seven. Mo Aguirre went 3 for 3.
MIRAMONTE LEAGUE
La Puente 3, Workman 1: Manel Rodriguez struck out 12 and allowed three hits in a complete-game effort.
Edgewood 5, Pomona 3: Aaron Magdaleno had a double that drove in two runs, and Omar Chavez went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Edgewood moves into second place in the league standings with the win.
MONTVIEW LEAGUE
Nogales 7, Baldwin Park 4: The Braves were led by Julian Huerta, a sophomore with two hits.
PALOMARES LEAGUE
Glendora 4, Diamond Bar 0: Aaron Jacobsen improved his record to 4-1 on the season as he tossed a four-hitter and struck out four. Tyler Obert had two hits. With the win, the Tartans took the series.
RIO HONDO LEAGUE
Monrovia 2, La Canada 1: In the game of the day in the area, the Wildcats scored a run in the second and third innings to pull out a narrow win over the visiting Spartans. Isaias Hernandez and James Quesenbery each drove in a run for Monrovia. Braydon Blackmore allowed one run on four hits and fanned four to pick up the win. Ethan Wong drove in the only run of the game for the Spartans, and Cash Carroll struck out eight in 4.1 innings of work. With the win, Monrovia and La Canada are tied for first place with a 3-1 record.
San Marino 3, South Pasadena 0: Tomas Bilvado tossed a three-hitter and struck out 11. He now holds team records for most career wins (22) and strikeouts (169).
NONLEAGUE
Northview 5, Layton 0: AJ Flores threw four shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven. Joey Ramos, Michael Mendoza, and Noah Martinez each contributed two hits.
La Habra 8, Walnut 2: Izaiah Posada had a big name with three hits, including two doubles. Zach Lopez and Andrew Gandara drove in two runs.
Diamond Ranch 9, Providence 2: Isaiah Aparicio went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, and Emmitt Luke also connected on two hits.

Schurr 15, Keppel 2: In one of the more stunning results of the day, Keppel standout pitcher Robyn Guitron got roughed up as the Spartans scored five runs in 1.1 innings of work in the circle. Kayla Rodriguez went 3 for 3 with a triple, and Mia Gonzalez hit a grand-slam home run. Sophomore Sophia De Santiago struck out six in a complete-game performance.
DEL REY LEAGUE
Bishop Amat 11, Saint Joseph 2: Arriana Saldivar, Julyssa Jimenez, Aiyana Perez, and Samantha Garcia all hit home runs in the Lancers' win.
St. Paul 9, St. Anthony 0: Freshman Gianelle Napoles tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 as the Swordsmen picked up their first win in league play.
FREEWAY LEAGUE
La Habra 12, Sunny Hills 0: Maddison Payne threw five scoreless innings, allowed four hits, and struck out three in earning the decision. Freshman Eliana Corona hit a two-run homer.
MONTVIEW LEAGUE
Sierra Vista 9, Azusa 2: Isabella Ortega struck out 10 hitters in a complete-game effort for the Dons.
OLYMPIC LEAGUE
Whittier Christian 19, Marantha 0: The pitching combination of Bobby Lozano and Sofia Gonzalez held the Maranatha to one hit. Sofia Hernandez, an Arizona State commit, went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs and connected on a home run. Mia Camacho and Rylee Cull also hit home runs.
PALOMARES LEAGUE
Bonita 4, Walnut 0: Skyler Lee tossed a one-hitter and struck out eight for Bonia. Skyy Hicks hit a solo home run in the first inning.
Glendora 8, Claremont 2: The Tartans scored seven runs in the second inning and cruised to a home win. Rylee Franks went 3 for 3 with an RBI. Gianna Messick allowed six hits and struck out four in a complete-game effort.
SANTA FE LEAGUE
La Salle 14, St. Genevieve 6: Havana Pagan was the offensive standout for the Lancers with four hits (a triple, two doubles, and a single).
VALLE VISTA LEAGUE
Charter Oak 9, San Dimas 2: Jazmyn Johnson went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs for the Chargers. Lyla Caston and Alexa Bryan each drove in two runs.

La Mirada 13, Paramount 1: Angelie Kennedy connected on a three-run homer and drove in five runs for the Matadores.
Sonora 3, Yorba Linda 1: It was another solid performance for Eastern Kentucky University commit Bayle Hunnicutt as she surrendered one unearned run on six hits and struck out six.
Monrovia 14, West Covina 13: In a wild game, both teams combined for 27 runs on 27 hits and committed 12 errors. Mackenzie Delgado and Aubrey Myers hit home runs.
