Bilvado strikes out 11 in San Marino's 8-1 baseball win over Monrovia; El Rancho upsets La Serna in Del Rio League softball.
BASEBALL
RIO HONDO LEAGUE
Tomas Bilvado, San Marino (Escarcega)
San Marino 8, Monrovia 1: In a game that was supposed to showcase two of the better teams in the RHL, Tomas Bilvado showed why he is the best pitcher in the league as he struck out 11 hitters, gave up one run on four hits. The senior had a fastball that lived between 87-88 MPH and improved his record on the season to 4-0. In addition, he banged out two hits and drove in two runs. Sophomore Chase Mena had a big day as he went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs. The first four hitters on the San Marino lineup went 8 for 14. Monrovia’s Josh Griffiths had two hits. San Marino travels to La Canada on Wednesday, while Monrovia travels to South Pasadena.

Temple City 4, South Pasadena 1: The Rams scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning and captured a huge road league win. Sebastian Esparza had a two-run double, and Peyton Navarat had two hits and drove in two runs. Tyler Womack hurled five shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. Ben Regan pitched two innings in relief and picked up the win.
DEL REY LEAGUE
St. Paul 9, La Salle 4: In a game delayed because of rain, Robert Encinas had a breakout game by going 2 for 4 and driving in three runs. Elias Mota also had a big game with two hits and three RBIs. Kalai Benavente struck out seven in 4.2 innings on the mound and picked up the win.
DEL RIO LEAGUE
California 3, Santa Fe 0: Ethan Martinez was sharp on the mound for the Condors as he tossed six shutout innings, striking out five, and earned the decision. Adam Vitela and Efren Magallanes each had two hits for the Condors. The Condors have a Wednesday road game against El Rancho.
MONTVIEW LEAGUE
Baldwin Park 4, Nogales 1: Isaiah Felix connected on a double that drove in two runs, and Thomas Beltran went 3 for 4 and scored twice as the Braves defeated the Nobles. Isaac Gonzalez allowed one run on one hit and struck out two in picking up the win.
NONLEAGUE
Muir 10, Eagle Rock 0: Miguel Castillo pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out four in the Mustangs home win. Conrad Hunziker had two doubles and Eduardo Sosa went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
Los Altos 4, Northview 4: In a game that was called after the seventh inning, the Vikings scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning that squared up the game. Evan Bustamante pitched three scoreless innings for Northview and fanned four hitters, while Carlos Montes struck out three in four innings as the starter.
Montebello 3, La Canada 2: The Spartans scored two runs in the fifth inning, but Montebello responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, which proved to be the difference. Oilers freshman Nathan Govea had a 2-RBI single, and Fernando Cruz went 3 for 4. La Canada’s Benji Geller drove in the Spartans’ only run.

El Rancho 6, La Serna 5: In the upset of the day in the area, Noelie Guerrero’s double off of La Serna pitcher Ava Jimenez proved to be the difference as the Dons shocked the host Lancers. Jaelynn Barragan struck out two in a complete-game effort and earned the win. La Serna’s Aubrie Baruch went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs.
PALOMARES LEAGUE
Bonita 12, Walnut 0: Bonita’s Serenity Reyes and Skyler Lee combined to hold the Mustangs to two hits in a home league win. Sophomore sensation Koa Puppe hit a grand-slam home run.
NONLEAGUE
Keppel 13, Gabrielino 1: Robyn Guitron struck out 15 in a complete-game effort.
Los Altos 4, Simi Valley 2: Maya Ruiz went 2 for 3 and drove in a run for the Conquerors. Freshman Kaylahni Duenas struck out nine. In the nightcap, Los Altos suffered a 5-2 loss to El Segundo.
