BASEBALL
South Hills 13, Wilson 2: The Huskies finally got their offense off to a fast start as they scored six runs in the second inning, off Wilson starter Samuel Ruezga and cruised to an easy Hacienda League win. Marcos Rosales and Jeremiah Sibrian had two hits with Gilbert Morales and Andrew Ramirez each driving in two runs. Matt Lorenzano pitched four innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and struck out ten. The UC Santa Barbara commit improved his record to 5-0.
Diamond Bar 9, Los Altos 0: Ryan Lewis was one of the pitching stars of the day in the area as he tossed a complete-game five-hitter and struck out six in the Brahmas’ Hacienda League win over the host Conquerors. Matthew Vargas had a home run and drove in three runs. Cj Alinas went 2 for 3 and amassed 2 RBIs.
Walnut 3, Rowland 0: Here was the other impressive pitching performance of the day as Mathew Leyva threw a complete-game four-hitter and struck out 11 in the Mustangs’ Hacienda League win over the Raiders.
Glendora 8, Alta Loma 1: The Tartans found the offense in the final stages of this Palomares League game as they scored three runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to easily dispatch the visiting Braves. Joseph Gilkeson connected on a home run with Braydon Wooldridge bringing in three runs. Wooldridge also pitched four innings, surrendering one run on four hits and striking out 10 to pick up the win and improve his record for the season to 4-1 with a 1.29 ERA.
Bonita 10, Ayala 5: In one of the more surprising results of the day, the Bearcats scored three runs in the third inning and six more in the fourth to defeat the visiting Bulldogs in a Palomares League affair. Adrian Lopez went 3 for 4 with a home run and drove in two runs. Luke Mistone had two hits and drove in two runs. Seth Wrightstone allowed seven hits and struck out three to earn the decision.

Arcadia 8, Crescenta Valley 5: In the game of the day in the area, the Apaches extended their winning streak to seven games with an impressive Pacific League win over the visiting Falcons. Morgan Howey and Tiara Westbrook hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning. Howey, an Oregon State signee, finished the game with three hits. Sophomore Sophia Herrera tossed a complete game and struck out five in picking up the win.
Glendora 7, Bonita 4: In a key Palomares League contest, the Tartans rallied from a 4-3 deficit to score three runs in the fourth inning and tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to defeat the Bearcats. Hailey Ganino had a three-run home run and junior Ryan Speh had two RBIs. Bridget Nemeth, a junior, allowed seven hits and struck out seven in a complete-game effort to earn the win. Her record improved to 7-3 with a 1.28 ERA.
Bishop Amat 14, St. Joseph’s 0: The Lancers scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning and easily turned back the visiting Jesters in a Del Rey League game. Dahila Palacio went 3 for 4 with three RBI’s and senior Jaidyn Lopez also drove in three runs. Junior Sydney Vermilion earned her first win of the season as threw four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out five.
Diamond Ranch 8, Northview 1: Freshmen Izzel Avalos turned in the pitching performance of the day as she allowed one run and struck out five in the Panthers Valle Vista League win over the visiting Vikings. Junior Emily McCoskey went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Brooke Batres had three hits.
St. Paul 14, Mary Star of the Sea 5: Hannah Moreno had two doubles and drove in three runs as the Swordsmen cruised to an easy road win over the Stars. Gaby Gandara went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and Sophia Arvizu amassed 2 RBIs. Gabby Gomez allowed four hits and struck out three in four innings of work to pick up the win.
Whittier Christian 10, Village Christian 0: University of Utah signee Brooklyn Carreon was sensational again in the circle for the Heralds as she threw a one-hitter and struck out 10 in an Olympic League win. The senior also banged out two doubles and drove in five runs.


Pasadena 5, Muir 2: The Bulldogs scored two runs in the second and fifth innings and defeated the host Mustangs in an intracity rivalry game. Freshmen Jazmin Jaquez had a terrific game offensively with two hits (including a triple) and Alyssa Perez (another freshman) driving in two runs. Jaquez allowed pitched a complete game and struck out 12 in picking up her second consecutive win of the season.
Schurr 11, San Gabriel 0: Alyssa Guzman went 2 for 3, driving in two runs and Mia Gonzalez had three hits as the Spartans defeated the visiting Matadors. Emma Mendizabal pitched four scoreless innings and struck out five in picking up the win. In another Almont League game, Bell Gardens outlasted Montebello 20-10.

Alhambra 8, Keppel 2: The Moors broke a 2-2 tie by scoring five runs in the fourth inning and easily defeated the Aztecs in an Almont League game. Miranda Romo had a solo home run and Sydney Carter drove in two runs. Anais Banuelos pitched four innings and struck out five to earn the win
Rio Hondo Prep 9, Chadwick 1: The Kares scored two runs in the third inning and three more in the sixth to earn a road Prep League win over the Dolphins. Madison Metz and Grace Pollock hit home runs. Tatiana Foor allowed one run on four hits and struck out eight in a complete-game effort to earn the win.
Duarte 19, Gladstone 3: Emily Ramirez went 2 for 2 with 5 RBIs. Kiley Peinado had three hits with 6 RBIs and Natalia Flores connected on a two-run home run as the Falcons routed the Gladiators in a Montview League game.
Azusa 8, Workman 2: Alexandra Caballero, a junior, had two doubles with 2 RBIs with Raelene Rodriguez and Jackie Castaneda each banging out three hits in a Montview League win over the Lobos.

Monrovia 3, Gabrielino 0: Outside hitter Sonny Keeling and middle blocker Gunnar Keeling, both seniors, had 11 kills as the Wildcats improved their record to 12-3 win a sweep over the visiting Eagles.
