San Marino wins first Rio Hondo League title since '81 with OT win over South Pasadena, Damien clinches share of Baseline League title, Keppel girls hoops wins 120th straight Almont League game.

#6 San Marino 77, #4 South Pasadena 71, OT: In front of an overflow crowd at San Marino HS, the Titans came through with a superior effort in overtime to defeat the visiting Tigers (17-8, 8-2) and clinch a share of the Rio Hondo League title. It is the first title for the Titans since 1981.
“We’ve been fighting to prove we are capable and worthy of this level of success and (Friday) we proved that,” San Marino coach Mihail Papadopulos said. “So proud of the toughness of our boys and coaching staff. It was an incredible atmosphere in our gym.”
Adrian Huang had an unbelievable performance for the Titans as he scored several big baskets in the closing stages of the game and finished the game with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Azinge pitched in 19 points with 11 rebounds and Jayden Tse pumped on 11 points.
If San Marino (20-2, 8-1) defeats La Canada tomorrow night (at La Canada, 8 p.m), the Titans will win the outright league title. If La Canada wins there will be a 3-way tie for first place.
#8 La Canada 69, Temple City 31: The Spartans opened a 34-18 halftime lead and cruised to an easy road Rio Hondo League win over the Rams. Brady Ransom spearheaded the offensive attack for the Spartans with 18 points with Evan Mulcahey adding 13 points. Ty Reynolds and David Garland each contributed 10 points.
#1 Damien 70, Rancho Cucamonga 53: The Spartans (26-2, 9-1) clinched a share of the Baseline League title for the first time since the 2015 campaign thanks to another huge effort from forward Jimmy Oladokun with 23 points. Spivey Word pumped in 17 points and R.J. Smith added 15 points.

#3 Los Altos 76, Wilson 51: The Conquerors (20-5, 10-0) won their 50th consecutive Hacienda League game, their seventh straight league title, and turned in a 20-win season for the seventh season in a row with a double-digit win over the Wildcats. Jazz Gardner was the leading scorer with 19 points, CJ Bellamy added 18 points and John Corina contributed 17 points.

#7 Glendora 76, Claremont 68: The Tartans (17-9, 7-3) finished in a tie for second place in the Palomares League with a workmanlike win over the Wolfpack. Noah Smith paced the offensive attack for the Tartans with 22 points, Luke Jacobson had a double-double (15 points, 18 rebounds), Chris Lee chipped in 16 points and Brayden Wooldridge tossed in 11 points. Lado Limbe had a huge game for Claremont with 34 points.
Diamond Bar 55, #9 Walnut 49: Malcolm Bell, a junior, turned in a stout performance for the Brahmas as he delivered a double-double performance (17 points/16 rebounds) in an intracity rivalry win over the visiting Mustangs. Dylan Stout chipped in 14 points and Alex Kim tallied 11 points. Malik Khouzam was the leading scorer for Walnut with 22 points.
Bell Gardens 50, Alhambra 25: The Moors (18-5, 7-2) picked a bad night to turn in one of their worst performances of the year in a home Almont League loss to the Lancers. The win gives Bell Gardens (19-7, 9-2) the outright league title. Alhambra connected on two field goals in the first half. Carlos Bedolla spearheaded the offensive attack for Bell Gardens with 23 points and Alan Rodriguez added 19 points. Christoper Orozco scored a team-high 6 points for Alhambra.

Schurr 59, Montebello 49: The Spartans (10-13, 5-2) swept the season series from the Oilers and secured third place in the Almont League standings on the strength of a huge effort from Andrew Mata, who scored a game-high 21 points.
Edgewood 58, La Puente 55: The Lions (22-5, 9-1) won their first league title since being reinstated by the CIF Southern Section with a narrow win over the Warriors. Edgewood last basketball title was on in 1985 when they were known as the Trojans. D.J. Hill and Nick Dien each scored 19 points for Edgewood.

Arcadia 64, La Quinta 51: Sky Clay scored 25 points and Jonathan Maldonado added 20 points as the Apaches improved their record for the season to 16-7 with a nonleague win.
Sierra Vista 52, Nogales 49: Hector Lopez topped the stat sheet for the Dons with 25 points and Will Pacis pitched in 13 points for the Dons (21-6) in a road win.
Mountain View 68, Marshall 61: Sophomore Jack Chavoya paced the offensive attack for the Vikings with 28 points and Raymundo Garcia pitched in 21 points in a Mission Valley League win over the Eagles. Mountain View finishes the season in third place in the league standings with a 7-5 record.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
#8 Keppel 76, San Gabriel 18: The Aztecs won their 120th consecutive Almont League game with an easy victory of the host Matadors. Keppel needs to win 63 more consecutive league games to match the total of Brea Olinda (1987-2006) for the second-most consecutive league games won in the CIFSS. Troy (1993-2018) holds the top mark in the section with 219 games. Jennifer Nitta was the leading scorer for Keppel with 17 points.

#1 South Pasadena 59, San Marino 50: The Titans made the Tigers sweat for most of the game, but South Pasadena went on an 8-0 run late the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in the win. Maddy Wong was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 14 points. San Marino was led by Kailey Woo with 17 points and Gianna Karafi added 16 points.
#3 La Salle 44, Cantwell Sacred Heart 36: The Lancers outscored the Cardinals 25-17 in the second half for another Camino Real League win. Ellie Chen was the leading scorer with 16 points. Khayia Chumley led the way for the Cardinals with 14 points.

#6 Los Altos 55, Wilson 45: The Conquerors (21-4, 10-0) polished off another perfect Hacienda League title with a double-digit road win over the Wildcats. Vhenus Gaoa scored 19 points and Kamora Fletcher chipped in 14 points.

#10 Gabrielino 63, El Monte 17: The Eagles (19-4, 12-0) also accomplished the feat of going undefeated in Mission Valley League play as they throttled the Lions. Josie Sanchez led the offensive attack with 16 points and Yvonne Yu tallied 11 points.
Rosemead 43, Arroyo 20: The Panthers (19-9, 10-2) secured second place in the Mission Valley League standings as they cruised by the Knights. Vivian Duong led all scorers with 24 points and Allison Tran grabbed 12 rebounds.
Pioneer 60 Whitney 37: Marina Interiano scored 17 points and Honesty Interiano added 14 points with 11 rebounds as the Titans earned another 605 League win.
