BASEBALL
DEL RIO LEAGUE
La Serna 1, El Rancho 0, 13 innings: In a game that took 3:17 minutes to complete, it was El Rancho relief pitcher Alex Apracio who walked Ryan Barraza scoring Josh Rodriguez with the winning run in the 13th inning, for the only run. Rodriguez got on base with a one-out single. Among the top pitching performances were El Rancho’s Stephan Ramirez (9IP, 1hit, 5Ks), Nate Preciado (3IP, 1H, 1W, 2Ks), along with La Serna’s Issac Aguilar (6IP, 4H, 7Ks), Eddie Garcia (6.1 IP, 1H, 2BB, 7Ks) and Josh Rodriguez (.2IP, 2Ks). La Serna moves into first place in the league standings with a 3-0 record. We’ll have a lot more on this game in our Monday column.
Santa Fe 3, Whittier 1: Felix Mota, a junior, threw 5.1 scoreless innings, yielding three hits and striking out four in the Chiefs’ win over the Cardinals.
MISSION VALLEY LEAGUE
Arroyo 12, El Monte 2: Fernando Gonzalez and Riley MacMillan each had two hits, and Chris Corona, along with Richard Inostroz each drove in two runs.
Marshall 5, Gabrielino 0: Ethan Sparks was too tough for the Eagles to handle as he struck out 10 in five scoreless innings of work to pick up the win.
PALOMARES LEAGUE
Bonita 8, Colony 7: Bonita took an 8-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning, only for the Titans to mount a dramatic comeback, scoring seven runs that came up just short. Austin Owens went 3 for 3 and Jared Brunk had two hits with two RBIs.
Ayala 12, Glendora 2: The Bulldogs scored four runs in the first and second innings to easily crush the Tartans. Elijah Duarte banged out two hits and drove in three runs.
NONLEAGUE
La Habra 3, Tesoro 1: Jared Day looked sharp for the Highlanders as he hurled five sharp innings, allowing three hits and striking out six to pick the win. Angel Acuna had two hits.
Charter Oak 2, Los Altos 1: In another area game that had to go into extra innings, Julian Salmon drew a walk that scored Moses Medrano with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Athen Malone, a CS Fullerton signee, threw 6.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits and struck out eight.
California 8, Troy 1: The Condors’ bats were hit today in a home win over the Warriors. Ricky Gonzalez went 3 for 4 and Enrique Matchan collected two RBIs.
South El Monte 11, Sierra Vista 4: Justin Sanchez, a junior, had a big day for the Eagles as he went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs. Xavier Cordova, another junior, had two doubles and also brought in three runs.
West Covina 2, Nogales 0: Edwin Segovia threw five shutout innings and struck out five to pick up the win.
St. Paul 15, LA Wilson 8: Fernie Soto drove in four runs on two hits, which included a triple in the first inning. Jacob Castellanos drove in three runs.

Arroyo 14, El Monte 4: Krystal Henriquez went 3 for 3 and Karissa Blanco amassed 3 RBIs in the Knight home win. In another MVL game, Rosemead defeated Mountain View, 9-8.
PALOMARES LEAGUE
Bonita 7, Claremont 1: The Bearcats scored six runs in the third inning and easily defeated the Wolfpack. Koa Puppe had two hits and tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out three. In other Palomares League action, Ayala defeated Alta Loma, 6-2 and Glendora prevailed over Colony, 4-1.
RIO HONDO LEAGUE
Temple City 10, Monrovia 6: It was a big day for catcher Samantha Womack as she had three hits and drove in five runs in the Rams’ big win over the Rams. Kassandra Gewecke, an Ohio State signee, struck out seven in a complete-game effort.
VALLE VISTA LEAGUE
Northview 8, San Dimas 1: It was a big day for Northview’s Ariel Fierro as she went 3 for 4 (with a double) and brought in three runs. She also pitched a complete game, striking out three. In another Valle Vista League game, Charter Oak defeated Covina, 9-4.
NONLEAGUE
Sonora 6, Whittier Christian 5: Aliana Pacheco was the hero of the day as her single in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Briaunna Beltran with the winning run as the Raiders upset the Heralds. Beltran also hit a home run.
