Zaye Salgado scored 11 points for the Saints in a 58-52 win over Charter Oak. (Escarcega)
San Dimas 58, Charter Oak 52: There was nothing pretty about Tuesday night’s Valle Vista League championship game between the Chargers and the host Saints. Both teams played tough, hard, and physical basketball for 32 minutes. It wasn’t uncommon for elbows to be thrown on rebound attempts and for players to dive onto the floor for loose balls.
In the end, it was the Saints (19-4, 8-1) that made the most plays in the final stages of the fourth period to garner the league title. The player that played a huge role in the win for the Saints was senior Aaron Park, who led all San Dimas scorers with 17 points which included making three of five 3-point baskets. Zaye Delgado’s steady presence was also a valuable commodity for San Dimas as he finished with 11 points.
Charter Oak’s talented freshman Marquis Bradley performed valiantly finishing the game with a team-high 17 points. Junior forward Samuel Lizardo added 14 points and center Elijah Lum tossed in 11 points. Charter Oak’s overall record dropped to 16-11 and 7-2 in Valle Vista League play.

Ayala 61, #8 Glendora 60: In one of the more entertaining games of the night, Zach Murphy hit a baseline 3-point basket in the final stages of the fourth quarter to lead the host Bulldogs to a thrilling Palomares League win over the Tartans (15-9, 5-3). Noah Smith spearheaded the Tartans offensive attack with 19 points with Braydon Wooldridge adding 13 points and Luke Jacobson tossing in 12 points.
