Northview and Walnut dominate the action at individual league championships
It was a busy day for boys and girls wrestlers throughout the valley as they competed in league championships and for automatic qualifiers for next week’s CIF Southern Section Individual championships throughout Southern California. Here is a look at some of the league results:

VALLE VISTA LEAGUE
Northview once again dominated the action with 12 boys and 8 girls wrestlers garnering league championships. Among the boys wrestlers that won included Marcos Tolentino (106), Nicholas Arellano (113), Adrian Limon (120), Mario Sandoval (126), Julien Leon (132), Jacob Leon (138), Jacob Salcedo (145), Sunny Acuna (152), Nate Cruz (160), Lewis Madrigal (170), Jeremiah Juarez (182) and Anthony Troncoso (285).
On the girls side, Vikings league champions were Sarah Ann Calinaya (101), Alexis Garca (106), Samantha Rivera (111), Leilani Lazaro (116), Mia Sanchez (121), Leticia Sanchez (137), Andrea Mateo (143) and Samantha Lewis (150).
San Dimas’ girls wrestling team also turned in a solid showing with five wrestlers securing league titles. They included Espi Dorantos (126), Cami Ortiz (131), Juliana Marquez (160), Jenae Acero (170), and Charlene Smith (235).
The only boys league champion was David Piedra at 195 pounds.
West Covina had one boys league champion in Jeremiah Juarez (182) and Charter Oak walked away with a boys champion (Nick Hernandez – 220) and a girls champion (Christina Page – 189).
HACIENDA LEAGUE

Walnut were the big winners on Saturday as they dominated the action on the mat on the boys and girls side.
The Mustangs secured six league titles in the boys division. Those included Christian Garcia, Elijah Flores, Ian Neeley, Ronnie Ramirez, Fernando Barrejo, and Derrick Meza. Barreto was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
In the girls division, Walnut league champions were Sienna Montanonez, Deandra Mesa, Anaya Falcon, Tiffani Yanagi, Lydia Wu, Jasmine Macias, Melia Marquez, Amanda Salcedo, Jordan Carrillo, Sandra Perez, Sara Gaskin, and Emily Pineda. Falcon was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Wrestler.
South Hills had three league champions in the boys division. Those included Aaron Vasquez (145), Chet Lewis (160), and Mason Lopez (220).
MISSION LEAGUE

For the first time in the history of the league, the individual championship was held at Crespi HS in Encino. Bishop Amat Lancers lost the team points race to Chaminade by one point. Six Lancer wrestlers earned league titles and they included Aidan Thome (108), Alexander Membreno (122), Gian Luca Munoz (134), Devon Jones (197), Leroy Garibay (222), and Ray Macias (287).
The girls competed at the Mt. Baldy League Championships and two Lancers walked away with league titles. Those wrestlers were Xochiti Cina (121) and Kaitlyn Castro (126)
PALOMARES LEAGUE
Four Bonita wrestlers won league championships at Bonita High School. The Bearcats that hit the top of the medal stand included Tristan Fernandez (126), Owen Arbogast (132), Cole Parra (145), and Levi Hernandez (220).
Three Bearcat wrestlers also won league titles and were Manaia Tafilau (126), Alyssa Contreras (189), and Juliana Gutierrez (235).
ALMONT LEAGUE
The Schurr Spartans sparkled on the mat when the dust settled at Bell Gardens High School. Five Spartan wrestlers won league crowns and they were Joao Miguel (145), Daniel Bauer (160), Samuel Mchtchian (170), Marco Rodriguez (182), and Brian Velez (195). Bauer was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler in the upper-division.
In the girls divisions, the Spartans won seven league titles. Among the winners were Taryn Evans (101), Kaitlyn Cruz (111), Britney Parga (126), Jacelyn Sosa (137), Melanie Brion (150), Emily Partida (170), and Galilea Garcia (189). Garcia was honored as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler in the upper-weight division.

Keppel High School’s boys team had one boys league champions Joseph Cimarusti and two girls champions, Allie Phillips and Audrey Villaion.
MIRAMONTE LEAGUE
Edgewood and La Puente secured several league titles in the final that were held at La Puente High School. Edgewood had three league champions: David Arellano (122), Leo Martinez (147), and Phillip Ulloa (222). Among the La Puente league champions included Fernando DeMartinez (128) and Issac Mendez (287). Bassett had a league champion in Max Arroyo (115).
In the girls division, La Puente led the way three league champions: Cassandra Padilla (103), Victoria Tamayo (172) and Lesly Cabrera (191). Edgewood had two league champions in Bernie Remijio (1230 Esmirna Ramirez (139).
SUBURBAN LEAGUE
La Mirada had two boys wrestlers that earned league titles at Mayfair High School. Those wrestlers were Jaden Rosillo (122) and Matthew Bahra (184). Three girls wrestlers also secured league titles and they included Natalie Perkins (103), Marie Saldana (113) and Avian Nieva (172).
