CRYSTAL BALL: From the program (and head coach) that brought you eventual Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, the Cowboys should be in the thick of the CBL race. But some questions will need to be answered. This is one of the teams that will make our “Training Camp Teams to Watch” list. The positives are that the returning players are next-level talent. Offensively, that includes Saavedra (OT) and White (WR). But the question that needs to be answered is, who is going to be the QB that will be handed the keys to the Corvette? Last year, Evan Powell put up ridiculous numbers (176-259, 2,648 yards), but he’s graduated. Jordan Salazar was the backup (21-34, 231, TD), but it’s interesting to note that coach Rogers mentioned incoming freshman Marcus Washington (6-2, 195) as one to follow. This is where the seven-on-seven practice and training camp will give us the answers. The other question offensively is at the running back position, where Brandon Rivers (221, 1,452 yards, 14 TDs) is also a graduation casualty. Expect Jordan White (33-314, 3 TDs) to pick up the slack in 2025. Defensively, the elephant in the room will be the defensive line. The entire front four has very limited varsity experience, so that will be a key point to watch in the non-league portion of the schedule. If the DL can become a strong point, that will make life much easier for USC commit Taylor Johnson (247 Sports 3-Star LB) and Cole Imbriani (DB). Johnson is one of those rare elite players who are highly recruited but chose to stay at his home school (Cajon) rather than transfer to a Trinity League team. That says a lot. Playing the win-loss game for Cajon is a bit tricky. Our models are all over the place with this team winning as few as four games to as many as nine. It all depends on how you look at Beaumont and Citrus Valley.
Projected Record: 7-3
