St. Paul girls hoops survives a major scare from Bishop Amat, Sonora falls to Ontario Christian, Pomona boys hoops snaps Edgewood's 12-game winning streak.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Ontario Christian 51, #1 Sonora 46: The Knights opened up a 27-13 halftime lead, but the Raiders went on a 17-6 run in the third quarter but the rally flattened out with Sonora (14-5) suffering a tough home nonleague loss. Ontario Christian (16-3) is on the CIF Southern Section Open Division watch list. Larissa Robles led the way for the Raiders with 18 points and Jasmin Sheikh added 9 points. Ontario Christian’s Chloe Briggs was the leading scorer in the game with 22 points.

#3 St. Paul 55, Bishop Amat 52: The Lancers (6-10, 0-3) seemed poised to pull off a big upset, leading by as many as nine points early in the fourth quarter, but the Swordsmen (17-2, 2-1) rallied in the late stages and narrowly prevailed in a Del Rey League contest. Syri Privo’s 3-point basket with three minutes left in the 4th period gave the Swordsmen the lead that they would not relinquish.
Bishop Amat’s Lalia Williams gave the Lancers their first lead of the game at 33-31 with an easy basket with two minutes left in the third period. Williams also connected on a wide-open jump shot from 15-feet early in the final stages of the third period that gave the Lancers a 40-31 lead.
St. Paul freshman Gloria Barrera was the game’s leading scorer with 20 points. Privo and Loretta Aguirre-Colmenero each pitched in nine points. Bishop Amat’s Adrianna Turner was the Lancers' top scorer with 14 points with Williams adding 12 points.


Providence 60, Mayfield 23: Jenna Domingo scored eight points for the Cubs that wasn’t enough as Providence easily captured a Prep League win. Mayfield will take on Pasadena Poly on Saturday.

Price 56, #9 San Gabriel Academy 53: In a tightly played Harbor League game, the Eagles (9-9, 2-1) suffered a tough road loss to Price. Three players scored in double figures for San Gabriel Academy. Jayden Mojica scored a team-high 14 points with Isaiah Johnson tossing in 13 points and Zack Medina contributing 10 points.
Pomona 63, Edgewood 58: The Red Devils (12-7, 3-0) snapped Edgewood’s 12-game winning streak with a narrow Miramonte League victory. Nick Dien had a huge night for Edgewood (17-5, 4-1) with 29 points and Nathan Salguero added 9 points. In another Miramonte League game, Bassett overwhelmed Ganesha 61-13.

La Habra 3, Sunny Hills 2, OT: Nicol Sanchez's golden goal in overtime gave the Highlanders a thrilling Freeway League win over the Lancers. In another Freeway League game, Sonora shut out Fullerton, 7-0.
